We are delighted to announce that charismatic, international cellist David Cohen will perform the fantastic Haydn Cello Concerto No.1 this Friday 12th May. Alexey Stadler, previously promoted as soloist, had to unavoidably withdraw at the last minute. The programme remains the same and we have pleasure in presenting another world-class soloist in Milton Keynes.

David Cohen is one of the most successful young international cellists. His career as a soloist flourished with performances with many major orchestras around the world and in the United Kingdom with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Soloist Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra.

As a graduate of the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, David has won more than 25 prizes in International Cello Competitions. Among his prizes and awards are the Gold Medal of the GSMD in London (previously won by Jacqueline du Pré), the Geneva International Cello Competition and the J.S.Bach International Competition.

In his remarkable career, David has worked as a soloist with some of the most distinguished conductors in the industry including Lord Menuhin and Sir Charles Mackerras.

David was appointed Principal Cello of the Philharmonia Orchestra in March 2001 and he is Professor of Cello Studies in Belgium and London: his students have won several international cello competitions and awards.

You will find award winning recordings by David with Forlane, Classic FM, Cypres-Records and the LPO Label.

David plays on a magnificient Dominicus Montagnana cello circa 1735

We look forward to seeing you at the Venue for this wonderful concert.
